I'll tell ya why this guy bugs me yet intrigues me. He will on occasion say something very intelligent and dead on like his reference to his own people at a speech right here in Milwaukee. He was talking about the comments the President of Mexico made about mexican immigrants are doing better than blacks because they are willing to do the jobs blacks won't do.

He was referring to the fact that many black americans were angered at the Mexican presidents comment and shouldn't be because he was right.
Then he makes comments like the one Cyco posted. I'll give him this caviat as I don't care much for reporters. That comment as crazy as it sounds may be taken out of context in some way shape or form. I've seen and been a victim of reporters mis-quoting me before.

I like the comment about it was the Rebulicans fault because the US did not sign the Global Warming Bill.

LOL, so global warming has worsened so much in the past 6 years to cause this to happen?... So, I guess the other CaT 5 storms in the past were just acts of GOD...
Not really political either way anymore...but that is too funny.

My point is that he said it is specificly Bush's fault....not denying the world appears to be getting warmer.

That data is pretty cool, but I have to wonder if they missed some prior to space flight?....like from 1851 to 1950's? LOL

Actually, I went back as far as 1900... was looking for a connection between the rise of Hitler in the late 1920s in Germany and an increase in Tropical Atlantic Activity (cuz, we all know, before it was all W's fault, it was all Hitler's fault). Ironically, to the eyes of a layman such as myself, it seems there have been FEWER storms each year as time has passed.
Mengus - September 15, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)

all data was taken from the site Cyco posted above.
the 2000-2004 data is on actual number of storms to date.
*the 2000-2009 data is based on total number of storms using an average number of 14 storms per year for years 2005-2009 based on the average of the number of storms per year from 2000-2004
Mengus - September 15, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)

now this is the same identical data (without the 2005-09 projection)
seeing year for year shows a more true look at the progression over the years and that there isn't an actual dramatic rise as the other chart suggests
Just goes to show how charts can be manipulated to show you what someone wants you to see :P

Good damn thing I live at 6000 ft. and can get to 14,000 ft elevation within an hour :)

Now I'm reading articles that say that global warming is the cause of these storms but they are only counting Cat 4 and 5 storms

This is just based on the same data as posted above but is only the Atlantic Cst 4&5 storms, not the total number of Cat 4 & 5 world wide.
If someone can get me a site with the data per year world wide, I'd do another based on that info.

K, just because I recently took Meterology and my final project was to answer the question of weather Hurricanes are increasing in intensity and frequency I'm gotta thrown in my 2c. You can look at all the data but remember that there are hurricanes globally. In other parts of the world they are called Typhoons and Tropical Cyclones. Now from my research... Hurricanes have been increasing in the Atlantic Basin (Flordia) but not globally. Also, IMO look at the trends of hurricanes every 35ish years there seems to be an increase... kind of like a cycle (think of a sine function).
In fact, globally 2002 was one of the mildist hurricane seasons on record. FYI I do believe in global warming, it is happening. But, from my classes collection of 16 finals that we published for the local newspapers tornados and hurricanes are not yet greatly effected. Remember it's not nessasarily that there are more hurricanes either, sometimes just a change in it's pathing. I'll have to recheck your data Cyco I know it did say Atlantic but some charts only show ones that have made landfall in the U.S.
Just something to think about.

Just a thought but the earth is about 4 billion years old. We have been around for the blink of an eye. I really have a feeling we have no clue as what this planet is really doing. Everyone can say what they want but the truth is no one really knows and everyone is just taking guesses.
Dragonsnot - September 19, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
Ya, I totally agree with you Hedao....
They can't even predict what the weather is going to do within 5 days here in Denver, so how am I suppose to believe they can predict what the ENTIRE globe is going to do?
Hehe, alot of junk science out there too :)

100th post
Also have to agree with Hedao. Trying to take accurate data that only covers the last 50 years or so and then trying to compare it to an earth that is a few billion years old just doesn't work. Obvioulsy this doesn't work.
