Would be nice to hear the entire thing and not just the part someone snipped that they wanted you to hear and take out of context.

How can the concept that "these people are poor anyway so the Superdome conditions are normal to them" be taken in any other context. Under what context would it be okay to say this.

That’s just my point, we are not hearing the entire thing. I heard the word arena and people speculate the reference is to the Superdome. Arena could be referring to other then a physical place. Underprivileged is also speculation to the poor rather then to something like not having access to medical facility in the neighborhood or faith in the Lord.

The way you have it written out, I agree that it is not something to say and I can see where you get that but that little clip has very little information in it. I was not there, have not heard or read the entire transcript so I can not pass judgment until I can hear the entire unedited transcript to determine what exactly is being referenced. For all I know she is talking about orphans that were given tickets to a Jets game on the 50 yard line.

A good example of this type of stuff is an email that went around about the Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer Kevin Carter. He did commit suicide 3 months after taking the award winning picture of a vulture stalking a starving girl in Sudan in 1993. In the email they said he left a suicide letter and did it from depression. This is true but they left it for us to speculate it was because nothing was being done about the starving people of the world. What they left out of the email was in his suicide note he said he was “depressed…without phone…money for a tent…money for child support…money for debts….money!!!!!”

My point here is that it has become common practice of people to give us just enough information to make a conclusion but may be holding back information just so we can draw the wrong conclusion and make something sound the way they want it to and not the way it really is.

I am not saying you are wrong, just saying I do not feel it is fair for any organization that is said to be reporting the news to give people a little snip of data to draw a conclusion from. I am interested in hearing more on what was said and if there is more to this clip I would love to hear it but until then, I will refrain from any personal judgment I have towards any member of the Bush family.

I am sorry but getting just part of a story or just one side of it is just not enough for me to hang someone from a tall tree with a short rope.

I totally agree with you Detka...It is a big problem with the media anymore as well, taking comments out of context. This sometimes causes public discontent that wouldn't otherwise be there....

Nice followup ;)
