Anyone play WOW yet? I read they have over 2 million players...EQ2 at 282000?? I also read Vangaurd was rated number one at fan fair for '05. Beta still yet to some out though.

No interest in WoW and it's cartoon like characters.

Vanguard... is another story. Can't wait to see it and will try and get into Beta.

:)

I played WOW up to level 54 on 2 separate accts. The game is fun but I found it very lacking in content. I find EQ2 to be much more interesting.

Disclaimer: all of what I am speculating and repeating is hearsay and 2nd hand info from a froup of friends who played WoW.

Its worse than eq2 for content.
They are all already lvl60 (and believe me, they are not powergamers in the least) with all their epic whatever (mounts and armor or something).
PvP got old quick. First it was too hard, then it was too easy. Mostly, people will get together in these massive enclaves far too large for any unsuspecting group to handle and overrun entire areas, enjoying and laughing as they kill the same folks over and over (thinking maybe SR formed a WoW guild).

Well during the past few weeks Ive been playing WoW and I like it. Nice change of pace from the everyday EQ2 scene. Lots of fun quests in a "cartoon" atmosphere, nice community with many willing and helpful people (at least at lower level toons so far) though the graphics and realism can hardly be compaired to EQ2. Fun game-2 thumbs up. I can see why it was voted best MMORPG.
Another game soon to hit the market is D&D. Mixed feelings on this one since I once played the board game.I still will try it though-the game is getting pretty good reviews.
Still anticipating the beta release of Vangaurd with much enthusiasm. No scheduled release date yet.
Guild wars at the moment is ranked number one on MMORPG.com. Anyone hear much about this? Reading the reviews I am somewhat reluctant on purchasing it. Heh just might seeing as I am still playing while most of you east coasters are sleeping!

Played WoW, hated it. I ended up being in a server with a bunch of immature people. Then again, I did eventually get banned because some annoying person kept following me everywhere telling me they joys of a certain religion and how I was going to be punished if I didn't agree with him. I ignored him only to have other chars start talking to me about the same thing, so I finally mouthed off to one of them about how I believed they were stupid and they can shove their religion up their neither-regions...

Guildwars... hate it. Was a lot of fun until the "actual" story begins. My healer/psy dude was awesome in the beginning, but once I entered "world 2" I couldn't do anything at all...

WoW supposidly up to 4,000,000 and EQ2 at 500,000 players now

I have tried both WoW and Guild Wars.

WoW.. too cartoony for me as well, but the general atmosphere just didn't suit me well. I can't give any specific arguments, because honestly, I didn't play for very long.

Guild Wars is, in my opinion, the most visually gorgeous game out today. The scenery is breathtaking, and if you do any kind of digital signatures or whatever, it may well be worth the investment of $50 (there is no subscription fee) just for the screenshots you can take from it. Spectacular graphics! That is the only thing I really found to recommend it, though. The pathing is annoying at best (can't move? Someone booby-trapped that evil blade of grass again!), and the quests are repetitive and dull. I found the content to be sadly shallow, but for short bursts of soloable play, it was ... ok.
