It's not that bad as it shows, but Rio de Janeiro sux cause all areas of the city are dangerous.
Anyway its a very very beautiful city, so thats sad...
I don't live in Rio, but the city i live is dangerous too.
I'm glad i live in a safe neighborhood, nothing ever happened to me or my family,only Tole was robbed once here :( .

Yet, that kind of thing (although sadly) can happen anywhere. I had someone attempt to rob once, myself. Fortunately, being 6'4" and 290# and being robbed at "fistpoint" by someone 120# soaking wet... I sent him running home to his mother, crying :)
Although, a burglar broke into my mother's house once. My brother was asleep on the sofa. When he woke up he thought it was my mother walking through the living room and said something to what he thought was her. The burglar was startled, pointed a shotgun at my brother and fired then ran out. Fortunately, my brother only had his thumb blown off as the burglar was a poor a shot as he was at catburglary. The thumb was reattached and he is fine now.
The point is, you live in a beautiful country :) That sort of thing can happen anywhere.
